Eric's ARENA FOOTBALL POWER RATINGS |

RATINGS PHILOSOPHY:
|
- Record--The most important factor in a team's rating.
|
- Strength of Schedule or SOS--The Schedule Strength based on Opposition's Record and Points scored and allowed.
|
- Offense--Points scored compared to the League average, relative to the Defenses played against.
|
- Defense--Points allowed compared to the League average, relative to the Offenses played against.
|
- Power Rating (PR)--Scoring the most points while allowing the opposition as few points as possible. Historically, teams that win by larger margins against their opponents. win more games than teams that win by smaller margins.
- What a team's average point differential would be if they played the hypothetical 'average' team.
- To figure point spread, compare the ratings of the competing teams and add 3 points to the home team. For example, a visiting team with a rating of 11, should be 7 points stronger than a home team with a rating of 1. 11 - 4 (1 + 3) = 7.
- In neutral field games (like the Super Bowl), there is no home team advantage.

- System PCT (SP)-A team's overall rating compared to the hypothetical 'average' team (.500SP).
